Policies and Procedures
Pre-Company and Petite students must take at least two classes per week. A ballet class plus a tap class and/or jazz class. The Pre-Company course is designed to introduce a student to the Elite Institute of the Arts Performing Arts Company. Students may participate in dance competitions and performances when they are ready.
Dance instruction involves physically touching from time to time during dance training and instructions.
Class and teachers are subject to change.
Studio Rules
Tuition
Tuition is a yearly fee calculated from the date of your first class through the end of August. The tuition is based on the number of classes taken per week and payable in advance of classes. It may be paid in one or more payments or monthly. Pay for the entire year in one or two payments and you will receive a discount. Students will not be allowed to take class if all monies due to the studio is not paid by the date it is due. Missed classes must be made up within 30 days or tuition is forfeited. No refund, credits or extensions will be given for scheduled holidays, school closing due to inclement weather, emergencies or missed classes. Family tuition is based on the total number of classes taken by members of the immediate family living with one household.
Monthly Tuition Payments
Monthly payments are paid in one payment due at registration and then equal monthly payments paid through August. Monthly tuition payments are due by the first of the month, with a $10.00 tuition discount applied to tuition received by the first of the month due. The postmarked date is used as the received date for payments that are mailed to the studio. Payments not received by the first of the following month will be charged at 1.75% service charge. All payments received will be applied to the oldest invoice due.
Annual Review
Our annual review will be held on a Saturday in June or July. This is subject to change due to the availability of the auditorium. There is one show scheduled at 2:00 p.m.
All seats are reserved and tickets must be purchased. Tickets go on sale the last week of May. Everyone that attends the show must purchase a ticket.
Students in the show do not need a ticket for the show. All students must be dropped off one hour prior to the start of the show and are returned to their parents immediately after the curtain call.
We will have a modified class schedule staring in June to prepare for the show. There will be a mandatory dress rehearsal at the auditorium. (Time/date: TBD) Students will be informed of the date, time and location of their dress rehearsal.
There is no flash photography, video cameras or food allowed in the auditorium. Anyone who violates these rules will be removed from the auditorium.
Additional Fees
There is a non-refundable registration fee per family. Please call the office about registration.
There is a $35.00 charge for checks returned by the bank. Clients that have a check returned will lose the privilege to pay by check. All payments after that must be made in cash, money order or credit card.
A $20.00 costume deposit is required at registration for each class taken and is non-refundable after November 1. The deposit is applied to the purchasing price of the review costume. The balance will be given in March.
Private instruction and technique lessons are given in 30-minute sessions. Ten lesson sessions are discounted. Payment is due when scheduled. Please call the office about private lessons.
Choreography is taught in four 30-minute sessions. Payment is due when scheduled. Please call the office about choreography.
A nominal fee is charged for students not picked up within 15 minutes after their class ends. This will be charged in 15 minute increments until they are picked up.
Dress Code
All students are expected to come to class properly attired. Those students not in the proper dance attire will not be allowed to take class. No over blouses are allowed. Leg warmers, sweaters, t-shirts, plastic pants, etc. should not be worn without permission of the teacher. No pantyhose are to be worn, tights only.
No jewelry is allowed in class and should not be brought to class. The studio is not responsible if it is lost or stolen.
Ballet – Female dress code: Black leotards (pink, solid colored leotard for Saturday students), pink tights, and pink ballet slippers. Hair must be worn in a neat bun at the back of the head, no ponytails. Short hair and bangs must be neatly pinned back off the face. Male dresscode: white t-shirt and black jazz pants or black leotards and black or white tights, white ballet shoes and socks.
Jazz – comfortable, non-restrictive attire. Jazz shoes or bare feet. Hair properly secured. Beige jazz shoes.
Tap – comfortable, non-restrictive attire. Black tap shoes, see teacher for type. (Beige tap shoes for Saturday students) Hair properly secured.
Inclement weather
The studio closes when Prince George's County Schools close or cancels activities because of inclement weather.
